CHAPTER 31 – INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS
Javi had spent the time he was away not only to put what he hoped were the finishing touches on the latest song; in his downtime, he had written the rough draft for a couple of songs and spent time planning Friday night when he’d see Kurt, su amor (his love) with just a touch of caliente, tentador y lindo….oh, yes, Kurt was all of that and more, hot, tempting and cute.
He had to strike just the right balance of erotic and simply inviting. It was so tempting to want to reveal everything at once, but he’d learned how to harness that urge. When he got home, he took a quick shower, and stuck a frozen dinner in the micro. Finally, he collapsed in his favorite recliner in the media room and closed his eyes for a few minutes to clear his head, then reached for his list. As he reveled in the silence, he went over the list of ideas, starred the ones he might use and, after finishing lunch, decided a quick nap was in order. He loved the time spent recording and writing, but it could be mentally and emotionally exhausting. Like a cat stretching, he slowly reached overhead and extended his legs out as far as they would go, then worked the kinks out of his neck. He sank into the plushness of the recliner, turned his thoughts to Kurt and let his imagination take him to places only Kurt was allowed to go, falling into a sound sleep.
When Javi awoke he reached for his phone to see what time it was. He hated watches and refused to wear one. People checking their watches was almost as annoying as them checking their phones all the time. It was a distraction he didn’t need or want. His life was full of enough deadlines. Plenty of time to get ready though. He slipped into his walk-in closet, hoping for some inspiration. He knew Kurt would “mute” himself so as not to clash or compete with Javi’s attire and he found that so sweet. Someday they’d talk about it, but for now he needed to decide if he was going to be a peacock or a swan…..or display a bit more subdued plumage, somewhere in between the two. He thought of the colors he knew Kurt liked, blue, red, black, pink. He removed one of his favorite jackets from its hanger and examined it with a critical eye. It was black silk with a tiny strip of red piping around the lapels and the hem and Kurt liked silk. He had a red hat that matched the touch of color in the jacket, and it had a shiny black band. He smiled, he had a hat that matched everything he wore. If he collected anything it was hats. He searched through his many black shirts, found the one he wanted and held it up against the jacket. It wasn’t like he hadn’t worn them together before, but one just never knew when your fashion sense was going to turn on you. Perfect, no collar, short sleeves and it fit him like a glove. Again, he went through the wide array of black pants he owned and found the pair he was looking for, a shiny black material like the silk jacket, a comfortable pair of black shoes. Jewelry! He loved jewelry! He’d purchased some new earrings in LA. Actually, he’d called his jeweler in LA a little over a week ago and asked him to custom make two of them. One for him and one for Kurt. He planned to give the one he’d had made for Kurt to him tonight if the moment was right. There had to be a fluidity to their plans, especially when planning something as intimate as tonight.
He picked up his earring and held it to his ear just as he had in the jewelry store. It was a diamond stud with a small black onyx pendant wrapped in a miniscule thread of silver painted red. In black, the initial K dangled from the bottom of the pendant. The earring measured maybe an inch long. He’d had an identical earring created for Kurt using his own initial, J. No other jewelry, he thought, too much and it would detract from the look.
He took a second shower enjoying the feel of the Sauvage body wash on his skin. He inhaled deeply and decided that was enough scent for this night. Balance, everything needed to be balanced. And besides the clothing he was planning to give Kurt to use in their “experiment” if he chose to, already had that scent on them.
As he dressed he began to prepare himself for this evening, the one of many like this for him and Kurt, he hoped, with lots of variations of course as time went by. He looked in the mirror and tried to see what Kurt might see. He brought to mind his own voice; he loved his voice. To him, it was one of his greatest gifts for so many reasons. He closed his eyes, tasting the fresh mint of the toothpaste he’d used, took another deep breath allowing the smell of Sauvage to surround him in the still somewhat steamy bathroom, grabbed his hat and touched the curls that Kurt seemed to take such delight in and headed for the door. The taxi was here. He laughed softly to himself as he thought, “Take one. Invasion of the Body Snatchers….”
